Social Media and people's 15 minutes.

I love social media, it's a platform for anyone to say and post anything they want (within reason).

The generic snap of food. A tweet about the weather or as seems to be a thing of late - some rant about inequality, shaming or injustice.

Now I am an opinionated person and yes I've been known to have a whinge on Twitter. Saying that I constantly read a lot of hateful tweets aimed at changing beliefs or just shattering someone's confidence or character and that I feel strongly about. It's not one persons place to dictate another persons lifestyle or choices and more importantly everyone is aloud an opinion on something. Just because you might not agree with that opinion doesn't mean it is wrong.

The truth of the matter is people rely to heavily on shields. The idea of hiding behind the internet for a start and then behind religion, sexual equality or political beliefs gives people a false sense of power and anonymity.

Just because you are a keyboard warrior tapping a tweet a minute moaning about the latest hot topic doesn't give you a right to slate, insult and belittle someone opposing your thoughts.

I agree it can be a fine line but the line is there none the less. But lets break it down to a more relatable level.

Opinions = Good.

Telling someone their opinions and beliefs are wrong = Bad.

As a society we need to calm down a bit, stop getting so angry and stop using what should be a friendly social platform to air this negativity.

Peace ✌
